What a Mighty God we Serve !!!!

The young man in this picture is Joshua Allen Hopper. The little boy on his shoulders is our son Caleb. This past Friday Bubba ( as known by family and friends) was at work and his hand got caught in a bailer. This machine bails the excess material not needed for the boat seat covers his company makes. Knowing right away his hand was gone, God brought to Bubba's mind all the times his Dad had said to keep your head on in any situation. Think about what to do. Allen then put his feet on the side of the bailer and pulled himself away from the bailer. He pulled his hand loose to save the rest of his body from being pulled in the bailer. After getting to the hospital in Savannah, TN where he lives, the decision was made to air vac him to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. The first thing he told his mother when she got there was "I thank the Lord, now what does he want me to learn from this" And so began the many words of encouragement that Bubba stated. There were 30 plus people waiting in the lobby at Savannah to see him. We were all worried and praying for God to show us what to say to help him. But just the opposite was the case. We left the room feeling better. My husband who is his pastor said," I was there to minister to him, but Bubba minister to me." Allen left an impression on the air vac team that helped him get to Nashville. So much so,that days later, the team went searching the hosptial to find the parents of this young man. They just had to met them. On Friday night after 6 plus hours of surgery the news was not good. The doctors said that there is nothing to work with. They would try later to reattach the hand but it would never work. They did attach blood veins and arteries to keep the hand alive until Bubba would beable to be in the decision making process of what to do next. Of course, everyone started praying for God's will to be done. Bubba told many people on Tuesday morning that he belonged wholely to God and it is up to him to let him keep his hand or not. Tuesday afternoon after about 5 hours of surgery to news came. The doctors were able to attach nerves to all four fingers and tendons to his thumb. When man said there is nothing to work with, God said let me show you what I can do. Thank you to all who prayed for him. There is much more for God to do in the future with this young man and his hand but we sure do serve a mighty God.

  1. Wow, what a wonderful story! I'm so glad that Bubba was able to keep his hand but more so that his faith grew in a God that loves and cares for us.

    Thanks for sharing this!
